Such narratives - like the importance of individual resilience and grit to overcome obstacles - are found in many of the stories we tell ourselves, and are some of the biggest blockers to creating change for a fairer world. [...] But there are other ideas and themes that speak to important aspects of being human: • The value of care, compassion and cooperation. [...] To have a bigger influence on the structure of our institutions, and the rules that govern social life, ideas need to be spread widely, carried within compelling stories about events and people that resonate with people. [...] What will we fund? We are interested in content that has the potential to create positive change in some way, and are looking to back talented individuals and/or energetic teams; it doesn’t matter if the message is the vision of an individual creator. [...] What we have already committed to funding We are committed to several career development schemes, working in partnership with New Writing North and Women in Journalism Scotland, and do not expect to be able to increase our funding on that part of the Fund.
