[...] The zones were connected to the network as a single connection from the BUA centroid to the nearest point on the road network. [...] In order to produce the data for the freight elements of the project methodology the network model was fed freight demands derived from the DfT’s National Travel Model, where a zone correspondence look-up converted NTM zones to BUAs for the NIC models. [...] Given the nature of the network model available to the study there was not sufficient data or time available to determine the links which carried journeys of the distance threshold set for Portfolio 5. [...] This also reflects the distribution of links within the region and the scale of the North West’s BUA areas – MRN links within the BUAs are excluded from the portfolio.
