The Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) is a multilateral treaty that regulates the international trade in conventional weapons. The ATT is an attempt to regulate the international trade of conventional weapons for the purpose of contributing to international and regional peace; reducing human suffering; and promoting co-operation, transparency, and responsible action by and among states. The ATT Secretariat was established in accordance with Article 18 of the Treaty to support and assist States Parties in the effective implementation of the ATT. The Secretariat is located in Geneva, Switzerland. The ATT Secretariat manages the collection of information, including reports submitted by States Parties, their nominated points of contact, and their national control lists. The ATT Secretariat also supports the ATT process by helping to organise conferences of States Parties and intersessional work.
