Summary IEA's mission is to improve public understanding of the fundamental institutions of a free society, with particular reference to the role of markets in resolving economic and social problems. IEA achieves its mission through (1) publishing programs; (2) organizing conferences, seminars, and lectures; (3) outreach activities to universities, colleges, and school students; (4) brokering media introductions and appearances; and (5) other related activities. IEA's main activity is a program of researching and publishing books (up to 20 a year) and a quarterly journal on various public policy issues. IEA often commissions outside authors for this work, although some projects are undertaken by its staff.
