The Independent Review of Children's Social Care (in England)
Add to list
In 2019 the UK government’s manifesto committed to reviewing the children’s social care system in England to make sure children and young people get the support they need. The review was to look at the whole system of support, safeguarding, protection and care, and
the child’s journey into and out of that system, including relevant aspects of preventative
services provided as part of early help. This included children throughout their interaction
with children’s social care, from referral, child in need and child protection plans, through to
becoming looked after. Josh MacAlister was appointed as Chair and the Review and recommendations were published in May 2022.
