The unemployment rates in Germany hadbeen decreasing progressively after the 2008economic crisis. The rate reached 3.2 percentin January 2020, according to the seasonallyadjusted Labor Force Survey (LFS). This trendwas accompanied by an increase in employment,which rose by 4.4 million people between 2009and 2019. The main reasons for the employmentgrowth were the increase in part-time jobs aswell as the rise in employment rates amongwomen, older workers, and migrants.
