[...] A BRIEF HISTORY OF FREEDOM FROM TORTURE’S NORTH LONDON SUPPORTERS GROUP 1990 Freedom from Torture’s Hampstead and Highgate Supporters Group was formed in the mid-1990s by Margaret Wolfson, a major supporter of the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture (as FfT was originally known). [...] Holly I joined the FfT North London group whilst at university… It turned out to be one of the best things I could have done! As a student, the experience also taught me a variety of skills that I could then transfer to my CV, such as creativity, working with others, social media and fundraising. [...] I first heard about FfT in 1998, when the director of the Hay Festival arranged a ‘Wall of Poetry’ in support of FfT. [...] It has been a very stimulating experience for a retired person – meeting people with experience from very different fields, learning about social media, being surprised and energised by the creativity and the commitment in the group.
