Ongoing conflict between the SAF and the RSF is deepening the humanitarian crisis and worsening the food security situations of the people in several urban, semi-urban and rural areas. [...] Khartoum – the capital of Sudan – is currently the center of the recent conflict in Sudan between the SAF, and the paramilitary Melicia, RSF over control of power in the country. [...] This is due to the consequences of the ongoing conflict which affected the ability of the people to produce and/ or access food and other basic services leading to massive displacement and loss of livelihoods and productive assets. [...] Although the revival of the Jeddah talks is a positive development, a negotiated settlement of the conflict between the RSF and SAF is not likely within the projection period given the continued battlefield success of one major armed actor involved in the talks. [...] The selection of these states was based on the severity of the impacts of the ongoing conflict and the likelihood of a deviation from the assumptions made in the previous AFI June 2023 analysis.
