[...] Brexit was sold on a promise of a Global Britain and the agreement to join the CPTPP, the Trans Pacific Partnership without the US, is seen as part of a pivot to Asia and the Pacific by the UK. [...] Seeking member- ship in the normal way under Article 49 of the Treaty would leave the UK without any of the opt-outs it negotiated as a member - that unquestionably would mean the UK being obliged to adopt the euro and join the Schengen area.
