Optimising the ecosystem services and benefits provided by urban and peri-urban forests requires a strategic approach to Sustainable Urban and Peri-Urban Forest Management (SUFM), implementing policies and programmes from the local to the international levels. [...] (e) Build inclusive partnerships and participatory approaches for developing and delivering SUFM programs and initiatives and link them to complementary programs and initiatives in rural areas beyond the urban and peri-urban sphere. [...] This decision should be based on a clear understanding of the desired benefits and ecosystem services of urban trees and forests, and a clear plan that identifies the most efficient and inclusive way to achieve these benefits and services. [...] Good practices examples of both good and Local Authority, and well-tested and novel technologies unsuccessful practices and Academia, Private Sector, can help enhance the longevity and technologies in SUFM. [...] Goal D: Strengthen technical and human capacities for the implementation of Sustainable Urban and Peri-Urban Forest Management programs: (a) SUFM is an interdisciplinary and highly complex field that integrates knowledge and skills on the interactions between cities and forests, trees, and people from a wide range of fields.
