Report of the Informal Advisory Group on Technical and Scientific Cooperation on its second meeting

10 Jan 2024

The Head of the Capacity-Building and Knowledge Management Unit of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Erie Tamale, welcomed the participants and thanked all members of the Informal Advisory Group for their dedicated support and guidance. [...] With regard to the issue of conflict of interest, the Informal Advisory Group concurred with the guidance provided by the Secretariat that the 10 members of the Group whose institutions had submitted an expression of interest to host a regional and/or subregional support centre (see annex I) should recuse themselves from the elaboration of the assessment framework during the second stage of the se. [...] Members also recommended to include a glossary of terms, including a definition of technical and scientific cooperation, in the assessment framework for the second stage of the selection process and to define the geographical scope of the regional and subregional groupings. [...] In addition, the Secretariat took note of the suggestion, introduced by the youth representative, to include considerations related to cooperation with rights holders as part of the criteria for the second stage of the selection process. [...] The Secretariat also informed the Informal Advisory Group of the resignation of Amelia Arreguín of the CBD Women’s Caucus from the Group.
