Zero Draft Element interactive Info graphic

2024

As the negotiations for a legal instrument to tackle plastic pollution are ongoing, Member states debate on which elements should be incorporated in the treaty. After INC-2 the INC Chair was mandated to develop the zero draft, which outlines 13 options for elements. To support negotiators, GRID-Arendal has developed an interactive infographic looking at different instruments and concepts, which could be adopted as part of the instrument to reduce plastic pollution. These are then outlined against the different options for elements as part of the zero draft. Negotiators are able to use this tool to develop their own ideal Plastics treaty text. These infographic looks at alternative plastics and substitutes, a Circular Economy, Extended Producer Responsibilities (EPR) and Multi-stakeholder forums and is available in English, French and Portuguese
