Mid-term evaluation of the performance of the implementation of the EU space programme and of EUSPA

22 Feb 2024

The EU Space Programme Regulation is the founding text for the Union Space Programme. Considering the importance of the programme to European society, the contributions it aims to provide in support of sustainability and social benefits, the economic importance of the programme in terms of jobs supported, and the large budget committed to the programme, and it is important to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the regulation. Indeed, such an evaluation is strongly aligned with the principles of evidence-informed policymaking (formerly known as “evidence-based policymaking”): the idea proposes that political decision-making should be informed by objective evidence. This ensures that public spending is committed in a manner aligned with the best interest of the public and ensures that a regulation is functioning as intended.
