Innovations and Experience in PPPs : Can PPPs Expand Access to Affordable Diagnostic Services in Emerging Markets? - Lessons from 15 Case Studies (English)

8 Mar 2024

Access to quality diagnostics is essential for both providing effective health care to individuals and advancing broader health policy objectives, such as universal health coverage. For patients, diagnostics are necessary not only in establishing diagnosis for both communicable and non-communicable diseases but also in guiding therapy, prognosticating, monitoring progress, and measuring response to therapy. At the population level, disease detection and surveillance are crucial components of epidemiology and public health that inform health policy decision-making, relying entirely on effective diagnostics. The three case studies have been selected to showcase diagnostic public-private partnerships (PPP) projects developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) globally which have positively transformed the provision of clinical services to patients in different health system contexts.
