[...] In the absence of a strong bottom-up understanding in Germany of the importance of the transatlantic relationship and the current international order, non-democratic actors such as the PRC and Russia will gain further influence. [...] Germany and the United States share a fundamental commitment to domestic and international safety and security, and the German government has been increasingly willing to take on greater global responsibilities to address global security threats and underlying roots of destabilization and conflict. [...] The Mission will continue to work with Germany and EU institutions headquartered in Germany to implement sanctions and other measures to bolster the economic and national security of our citizens and our partners. [...] • Risks | A failure to achieve coordination and cooperation bilaterally and in multilateral fora could also lead to regulatory divergence between the United States and Germany and enable competitors to set the standards for innovation inconsistent with our shared values.
