The impact of the project will be enhanced economic growth and reduced poverty in rural areas of the selected districts in the southwest area of Bangladesh. The outcome will be enhanced productivity and sustainability of the selected existing flood control, drainage/irrigation (FCDI) systems. This will also contribute to increasing incomes and livelihood as well as raise quality of living standards of the local population, particularly women and socially disadvantaged groups. The project has following three outputs: (i) water management organization's (WMO's) capacity for sustainable water resources planning and management in the subproject areas strengthened, (ii) infrastructure facilities of FCDI schemes in the subproject areas restored, and (iii) institutional capacity for sustainable participatory integrated water resources planning and management strengthened.
