The Constitution safeguards the freedoms of speech and information, further emphasising the significance of the media as a vital role in a democracy. [...] The role of media in a democratic society is enduring, and the content of its reporting can assess the vitality of a nation, the quality of its journalism, and the degree of media freedom it enjoys. [...] Without journalists to investigate and report on government activities, there is less risk of exposure to corruption and wrongdoing leading the government to become more authoritarian and less responsive to the needs of the people. [...] The objective was to gauge the perception of the importance of journalism among these professionals and to understand its potential ramifications on the media’s role in democracy amidst a significant exodus of journalists. [...] The role of media in a democratic society is enduring, and the vitality of a nation can be assessed by the content of its reporting, the quality of its journalism, and the degree of media freedom it enjoys.
