Although this was slightly delayed from the original date, the event went off impressively smoothly considering unprecedented recent events: the untimely passing of President Geingob on 4 February and the transition to President Mbumba on the same day, the mini-Cabinet reshuffle which took place on 9 February, and the memorial service and burial of former President Geingob on 24 and 25 February. [...] The SEZ Bill is expected to be tabled in the National Assembly during FY24/25 in advance to the expiration of the Export Processing Zone regime in 2025. [...] This, the Minister says, is a once off measure that came about due to the fiscal consolidation of previous years and includes the University of Namibia, TransNamib, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, New Era Corporation, the National Fishing Corporation, and the Roads Contractor Company. [...] This year the Budget Speech, Estimates of Rev- enue and Expenditure, the Fiscal Strategy, the MTEF and the Appropriation Bill documents were available on the day the budget was tabled.
