First, as care mostly depends o n households’ o wn r esources, it c ompromises the quality o f care a nd, a s a consequence, the development of h uman capabilities of care recipients. [...] H owever, new opportunities may c atalyse progress in 2024 and 2025: The Brazilian G20 presidency o pens up s everal opportunities, as c are has b een explicitly underscored in t he a genda of the W omen 20 and Think 20 engagement groups, a s well a s the G20 Working Group on the Empowerment of W omen. [...] A dditionally, the two consecutive p residencies of Brazil i n 2024 and South A frica in 2025, as well as the r ecent i nclusion of the African U nion in t he G20 also o ffer an o pportunity to bring Global S outh perspectives to the f orefront in multilateral d iscussions o n gendered 2 ht. [...] Moreover, forthcoming global agreements such as the Pact of the Future - the expected outcome of the 2024 Summit of the Future - should also centre c are in i ts v ision for multilateral cooperation.
