Asylum applications are often expedited for asylum seekers from 'safe countries of origin'. Most countries do so based on a list, which includes third countries that they have designated ‘safe’. However, lists greatly vary across the EU and very little is known about countries’ national policies. This study aims to provide insights in such policies and applications from several EU Member States, offering possible leads for the Dutch approach.
