The Global Flaring and Methane Reduction partnership (GFMR) is a public-private partnership that was formed in 2002 (as the Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership - GGFR) by multilateral organizations, governments, and oil companies. It is hosted and managed by the World Bank. GFMR provides a platform to support national governments and the petroleum industry in their efforts to reduce flaring and venting of gas associated with the extraction of crude oil.
