Mesganu Arga Moach State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at The Commemoration of the 30th Anniversary Of Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda 7 April 2024 Addis Ababa Your Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Your Excellency Dr. [...] Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, On behalf of the people and government of Ethiopia, I extend our deepest sympathy to the survivors of the Rwandan genocide. [...] As we mark the somber 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi, let us not allow the passage of time to dim the memory of the atrocities inflicted. [...] This annual memorial program stands as a testament to a profound truth: through the act of acknowledging the darkness of the past, we illuminate the path to a brighter future. [...] In light of this, it is important to recognize and commend the great stride and resilience showed by the People and Government of Rwanda in addressing the root causes of violence that culminated in the 1994 genocide.
