This study of Kenya RuraI Enterprise Program (KREP)provides many insights into the process of developing and refining the microfinance operations of a development organization from a non-governmental organization (NGO) providing select groups with access to credit to a full-service micro financial intermediary serving tens of thousands of Kenya's poor. KREP holds further lessons on commercializing microfinance operations as the challenges and options associated with the next stages of KREP's conversion of its financial services division into the full-service KREP Bank are clarified.
