18 Apr 2024

The study reported in this paper is to review published and unpublished papers that focus on how to make services including those provided by a helpline available and accessible to the target population and how to strengthen the effectiveness of these services to the survivors of family violence, especially GBV and VAC. [...] The study is expected to identify knowledge gaps on how to improve the effectiveness of responses to family violence using helplines and the potential ways to improve the availability and accessibility of helplines. [...] Accessibility of helplines by young people and gender differences For survivors to be able to access helplines, the helplines must be available, and the survivors should be well-informed about the availability of the helplines and the services that they provide. [...] Findings from the study highlight the importance of monitoring and evaluation of the 21 quality of services provided to users and the assessment of users’ perceptions of the quality of services provided and potential strategy that can be used to improve the effectiveness of helplines. [...] This indicates the need to conduct more research on the assessment of the effectiveness of helplines in providing satisfactory quality of services to users and to find how to improve the services to meet preferences of the different users.
