The main objectives for the this phase was to test the feasibility of implementing the A LOT-Change model among older adolescents and to establishing the sustainability of the effects of the intervention as observed in Phase II on the adolescents in secondary school. [...] The purpose of this lesson is to help parents of these teenage children to first understand themselves, their potential, their emotions, their position in life and society, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. [...] The information here provides parents with the knowledge and guidelines and tools to give the support, guidance and learning experiences necessary for their child to grow and develop according to his/her unique developmental blueprint. [...] For example, young children are much more likely to understand a direction such as, “No hitting your sister,” as opposed to “It is not acceptable to hit your sister.” Parents should try to know what their children are able to understand and they should try not to communicate in ways that their children are not able to understand. [...] If parents, for example, continue to read the paper or to watch television while their children are trying 26 to communicate with them, children may get the message that their parents arenot interested in what they have to say, or that what they have to say is not important.
