SOCIAL EXCLUSION In Australia, the concept of Social Exclusion gained prominence in the first decade of the 2000s, with the establishment of the Australian Government Social Inclusion Board in 2009 to advise the Government, consult with the community, and report on social inclusion in Australia. [...] Generally, the first component captures the largest part of the variation in the original set of variables and becomes the index (as is indeed the case in our study). [...] A COMPARISON TO THE 2016 CSE INDEX For the sake of consistency in time series comparison, we keep the 2021 domains and indicators aligned with the five domains and indicators used in the previous 2016 iteration of the index. [...] The creation of the child weighted quintiles for each of the indexes means there are the same number of children in each quintile of the CSE Index and SEIFA. [...] Although the prevalence of children in the most excluded CSE quintile in the Northern Territory (NT) was only 14 per cent, almost half of the children in NT were in the most and second most excluded CSE quintile.
