Meanwhile, scholars have noted an increase in both the average number of daily users of social media over the past decade—from 970 million users in 2010 to 4.95 billion users in October 2023—and the average daily time spent on such sites went from 90 minutes per day in 2012 to 151 minutes per day in 2023.
