[...] From the beginning, North Korea’s reaction to the war was different from that of the rest of the world: it showed no immediate response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and only breaking its silence a few days later identifying the root cause of the war as a one-sided expansion of NATO, which rightfully made Russia worry. [...] The impetus for the establishment of these institutions owes itself in some measure, to the widespread disappointment at the failure to reform the governance of international financial institutions, in line with contemporary geopolitical and economic realities.
