The award ceremony was held in the Civic Centre, the seat of local government, with the simultaneous exhibition held in the Concourse of the Centre. [...] A number of topics were discussed during the conference, but the key theme that underpinned the deliberations was summarised in the words of one of the speakers: “Good research leads to good policies and good policy processes lead to good research ”empha- sising the need for accurate and reliable information as the basis of policies that are work- able and sustainable and that respond to actual (a. [...] id as a 20 Our work outside of Idasa included publication of Transforming a Century of Injustice produced by the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation, Social Justice in the Global Economy produced by the International Institute for Labour Studies, a project of the International Labour Organisation, in collaboration with the University of the Western Cape, and a book written by the Education Po. [...] The project is a collaboration between Idasa, the funders, ie the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SIDA), the Norwegian embassy (NORAD) and the Canadian High Commission (CIDA) and NGOs ie Foundation for Democratic Process, the Legal Resources Foundation, the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace, Women for Change, the Zambia Independent Media Association, the Young Women’s Christi. [...] The successful implementation of these activities was due to the commitment and enthusiasm from the organisations, the high calibre of the resource people, not only from Idasa but also from other institutions – local and internationally – and of course the gener- ous support of the three donors! The project is set to conclude by the end of June 2001.
