The characteristics of two-year colleges and trends in community college education are summarized in this series of fact sheets. The first of these presents a nationwide overview of the number and types of institutions; full- and part-time enrollments; selected student, faculty, and administrator characteristics; tuition and fees; and types of programs. Subsequent fact sheets provide greater detail for the following topics: (1) enrollment trends for 1960 to 1978 and projections; (2) enrollment trends in vocational/occupational/technical programs, transfer/liberal arts/college parallel programs and community education and special interest programs; (3) changing patterns of student characteristics; (4) results of follow-up studies of community college graduates who transferred or sought employment; (5) characteristics and numbers of adult lifelong learners; (6) tuition and financial aid; (7) activities and characteristics of full- and part-time faculty; (8) administrator characteristics and governance patterns; (9) methods of financing community colleges; and (10) programs in progress at the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges. References and sources of information are provided for each category. (MB)
