Implementing an Experiential Pedagogy in a Research Method

Empirical evidence is lacking that sheds light on the development and impact of experiential learning in business schools. The purpose of this study is twofold: to report on the integration of experiential learning, inspired by the pragmatist perspective, and to understand its impact on how students perceive their autonomy at the end of a research methodology seminar. We conducted two investigations on two cohorts of students, one qualitative and the other quantitative, as part of a mixed-methods approach. Our results indicate there are strong links between the students' perceived autonomy and the following three dimensions: the experiential project, the teamwork and the teacher's posture.
