In the most severe of instances, inaccessibility of data can result in: o Defunding of essential services and programs that are actually effective o Homelessness; inability to apply for/secure suitable accommodation o Financial insecurity and/or inability to access opportunities, leading to the perpetuation of cycles of poverty and trauma o Misdiagnoses and mistreatment of injuries and illnesses o. [...] Access to data and information is necessary for Aboriginal community-controlled organisations (ACCOs) to drive their own development by making evidence-based decisions on services for their communities, to measure the effectiveness of mainstream organisations operating in their region and to tell the story of their data by setting it in the right context. [...] The engagements made clear that access to data and information, and being able to use it to support achieving better outcomes, underpins the achievement of the other priority reforms and needs to be recognised and pursued as a separate priority reform. [...] It is necessary to address the limitations of current data management systems and to provide advanced functionalities tailored to the needs of Aboriginal communities by enhancing data governance, supporting informed decision-making, and promoting collaboration and sustainability.
