[...] IUGG – The People at the Forefront (XIX) Kenji Satake, President of the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior (IASPEI), 2019-2023 Kenji Satake is a member of the IUGG Executive Committee, being the President of the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior (IASPEI). [...] However, a similar earthquake in AD 869 was documented in the historical literature, and we were in the process of studying tsunami deposits and modelling the earthquake source. [...] This includes the regular meetings of the Bureau as well as the meetings of the Executive Committee (15-16 September 2021), the Finance Committee, the Scientific Program Committee in preparation for the IUGG General Assembly 2023 in Berlin, and others. [...] The demographics and practices of the community are changing, the digital revolution is accelerating, and the current pandemic induces both constraints and innovations.
