The greater the slope, the steeper the climb, and thus the more difficult and dangerous to traverse. [...] As shown in Figure 2, the most dangerous areas are in the western region in the Sonoran Desert, while the least dangerous region is to the east of the Tohono O’odham Nation Reservation. [...] In Figure 4 it is clear that the majority of remains were discovered in the area of the Sonoran Desert that lies to the east of the Lukeville Port of Entry at Sonoyta and to the west of the Nogales Port of Entry. [...] This suggests that the construction of the border wall, as part of the SFA, altered the paths of migrants attempting to cross the border.
