The World Bank Group and the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF) have engaged PwC Drone Powered Solutions - Global Centre of Excellence in Drone Technology to study the drone ecosystem in the Latin American and Caribbean region. The study covers 35 selected countries and aims to provide recommendations on practical steps that can be taken to unlock the potential of widespread drone adoption and to scale up operations across different sectors to bring innovation, development, and solutions to complex social and environmental problems. Through understanding the need for developing sustainable business models for drone operations, the insights from the study aim to unlock opportunities for countries to improve economic growth, innovation, and spread technology across the LAC region. The study is comprised of 3 phases that resulted in 4 distinctive reports, and 3 country-specific studies along with topic-related snapshots. The study combined comprehensive desk research of primary and secondary sources with over 45 in-depth interviews with key local and international stakeholders, as well as insight from several workshops and working sessions with relevant players for particular countries and sub-regions.
