To enhance food security and nutrition, the Cambodian government implemented robust nutrition policies under the National Strategy for Food Security and Nutrition (NSFSN) 2014-2018 and the Second National Strategy for Food Security and Nutrition 2019-2023. [...] The nutrition strategy aims to strengthen the food environment (i.e., the places and ways in which food is sold to and accessed by people) and consumer behaviours to enable healthier food choices and promote diversified, nutritious, and sustainable food production. [...] This is due to the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related natural hazards, including drought, flooding and tropical storms, combined with the population’s weak adaptive capacity and lack of mechanisms providing farmers with ‘climate-smart’ adaptation options, which has significant implications for food production and agricultural productivity, and therefore the health and nutrition s. [...] Findings This section presents the contexts of respondents living in the study sites and key findings about awareness of and access to nutrition information, spending on food, food production, managing food during lean times and production impacts, and formal and informal barriers to food production and nutrition consumption.
