India's Port Community System (PCS) was first introduced in 2008 by the Indian Ports Association (IPA), representing all major ports. PCS 1x is a cloud-based system which was launched in Dec 2018. It brought together different maritime stakeholders on a common platform. The functionality includes modules covering vessel clearance, cargo, container, and hinterland transport, and payment-related services. It is implemented in 12 major ports and a few non-major ports covering around 92 percent of the total volume of international trade. PCS1x is in the process of being implemented with enhancements in the name of Sagar Setu (NLP-Marine).
