The Draft Programme is developed on the basis of the Programme of Work of the Convention in consultation with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bureau and the Convention Secretariat and is reviewed at the working group meetings prior to the approval. [...] On the implementation of the current Programme of Work In October 2021, the Ninth Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention in Geneva, Switzerland adopted IWAC’s second Programme of Work for 2022-2024, which was developed in consultation with all stakeholders and based on the results of the first Programme. [...] The results of the first phase can serve the basis for the work on the second phase of the project and the development of a set of joint measures to prevent and respond to pollution of the Syrdarya River basin in emergency situations. [...] Promoting intersectoral solutions based on the water-food-energy-ecosystems nexus To strengthen the intersectoral dialogue on the use of water resources, it is planned to carry out a case study aimed at assessing the role of water in the development of the economies of Central Asian countries based on the example of the Kazakh part of the Syrdarya River. [...] The workshop will also assist in raising the profile and scaling up the use of reporting for the development of transboundary water cooperation in the countries of the region, identifying gaps in the fulfillment of SDG 6.5.2, facilitating the development of concrete measures to address SDG 6.5.2 based on the Convention reports.
