This report is an exploration of what inclusive
technology (tech) and innovation looks like in economic and community
development. Ensuring that equity and inclusion are at the forefront of tech-based
economic development discussions and decisions is especially crucial as attacks on
DEI in the tech sector increase.
Over the past year, NGIN collected qualitative data through in-depth interviews
and an in-person round table with practitioners throughout the US. Using this data,
along with extensive desk research, this report builds upon our previous work to
articulate the ingredients for inclusive tech-based economic development (ITBED) and how communities can take steps to implement more equitable
processes and achieve more equitable outcomes. It also provides tools that
communities can use to drive I-TBED in their communities.
