RAND Project AIR FORCE has conducted extensive research on the contributors to the ongoing U.S. Air Force (USAF) pilot shortage, including the difficulty in absorbing new pilots. RAND can use its experience with USAF manpower issues and its considerable subject-matter expertise in several potential areas of study to help the USAF improve pilot absorption in operational units.
