[...] The purpose of this framework is to provide guidance to policymakers and project executing entities (PEEs) in the GCIP partner countries in defining and implementing policy strategies to promote cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship and to increase the participation of women and youth in cleantech entrepreneurial activities and as leaders in this sector. [...] Some examples include the National Innovation Scheme to support prototypes and the launch and growth of startups; the Proof of Concept scheme to validate business feasibility of novel research ideas, and the Collaborate Research and Innovation Grant Scheme, which connects local businesses with academia and research centres to conduct join research projects. [...] The separation of the Israel Innovation Authority from other branches of government was a strategic choice to prevent the Authority’s work from being influenced by the specific needs or wants of the incumbent government and ministries in power and to maintain the long-term vision of Israel’s innovation policy. [...] Similarly, the Research and Innovation Law15 is a joint effort between the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, given their overlapping mandates and responsibilities for research and innovation.
