Report in summary A team of experts from The University of Nairobi, National Museums of Kenya, Technical University of Kenya and Directorate of Resource Surveys and Remote Sensing—in conjunction with the Wyss Academy for Nature—undertook dry and wet season biodiversity and socio- ecological assessments of local livelihoods at the Naibunga Community Conservancy, Laikipia County, northern Kenya in J. [...] Key highlights from our varied fieldwork components in the dry and wet seasons thus far include: (1) The Naibunga Community Conservancy merits periodic biodiversity monitoring in areas with and without semi-circular bunds during the dry and wet seasons annually to document the changes in vegetation structure and composition, water distribution, and dynamics in the key vertebrate and invertebrate s. [...] The eastern and northern parts of the County are suitable for grazing while the plateau lying in the central and the northern parts of the County is suitable for ranching. [...] • Key highlights of the workshop include but are not limited to deliberations about: an insecure and degraded landscape threatening the coexistence of nature and people; disarmament as a vehicle to mitigating human-human conflict; inclusivity and diversity of representation in crucial policy and local administrative decisions including the planning of local infrastructure; intercommunity cohesion,. [...] • Conduct continuous monitoring of the habitats to understand the trends in herpetofaunal (amphibians and reptiles) species diversity and abundance over time, especially in regard to effect of the semi-circular bunds on amphibians and reptiles.
