Trade in goods between the EU and India amounts to around 12% of total trade of India, thereby exceeding the USA and China.24 Figure 5 shows the development of imports and exports between India and the EU27 from 2012 to 2022. [...] This figure outlines the relevance of raw materials in the trade relations between the EU and India since the import of petroleum oils from India to the EU27 amounts to around EUR 4.8 bn. [...] This can be linked to the global role of the diamond industry located in Antwerp, Belgium.29 Figure 8 further points to the relevance of value chains linked to the EU industrial ecosystem Health in the trade relations between the EU27 and India. [...] India, sometimes titled as “pharmacy of the world”, plays a key role in the production of many pharmaceutical products to the EU.31 As already pointed out in the examination of traded goods above, value chains linked to the EU industrial ecosystem Energy Intensive Industries play a relevant role in the trade relations of the EU27 and India.
