Time: 11:00-12:30 AZTThe Global Methane Hub (GMH) and UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) will host a side event at COP29 titled A Methane Data Revolution: Translating Insight into Action at the GMH Pavilion, focusing on what’s needed to translate methane data into effective action. The event will feature high-level representatives from the governments of Colombia and Nigeria alongside experts from international organizations and academia. Panelists will discuss the latest methane data and tools from UNEP’s IMEO and explore how stakeholders are using these resources to drive mitigation across sectors. An updated version of IMEO's methane data platform will be highlighted, showcasing new insights into global progress in implementing methane reduction measures. This includes updates on the Methane Alert and Response System, the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0, and IMEO's methane science studies.
