Catalyzing Methane Action – Harnessing UNEP’s IMEO Data for Methane Emissions Reduction in the MENA Region

Time: 14:30-15:30 AZT The Government of Iraq and UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) will organize a side event at COP29, titled Catalyzing Methane Action – Harnessing UNEP’s IMEO Data for Methane Emissions Reduction in the MENA Region at the Iraqi Pavillion. During this event, UNEP’s IMEO will highlight findings from its 2024 Annual Report with implications for the MENA region. The session will also spotlight collaborations in the MENA region on transforming methane data into action, address existing challenges, and align on the next steps for advancing data-driven methane mitigation through the support of international partners.  Key stakeholders from across the MENA region, including high-level representatives from governments, international organizations, and industry, will be in attendance.
