Protecting and Restoring Forest Carbon in Tropical Africa

1 March 2011

Summary

Protecting and Restoring Forest Carbon in Tropical Africa: a guide for donors and funders is published by The Forests Philanthropy Action Network (FPAN), a UK registered charity formed in 2008 to help coordinate and inform philanthropic support on the whole range of global forest issues. The report is the culmination of nearly two years of desk and field research, funded by the Pure Climate Foundation, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the Leventis family, the Linden Trust for Conservation, and the Wetland Trust. The aim is to provide an introduction and some initial guidance on a broad and complex topic: which interventions to protect and restore Africa’s tropical forest carbon are likely to be successful and under what circumstances; and how donors and funders can engage most effectively.
