The School has acquired a reputation of being a focal point in Asia for teaching and research in strategic Ambassador studies, security studies, international rela- Barry Desker, tions and international political economy, and Dean, RSIS as one of the key nodes in the global network of think tanks and research institutions working in these areas. [...] In 2007, the School also started a new South Asia Programme, which is an extension of the India Programme initiated in 2004 to research the rise of India and the potential impact this may have on the region. [...] As reflected within the pages of this Review, the high volume of research being done is evident in the 30 conferences and workshops our staff have organized or co-organ- ized with other institutions during the year, and by the number of works published by the School and by each staff member individually.
