[...] Under the leadership of Thailand, the Bangkok Declaration on Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN Region along with the ASEAN Framework of Action on Marine Debris was adopted in 2019 to reaffirm the region’s pledge and targets to combat marine pollution. [...] Indeed, it was in response to the worldwide pandemic, that the two institutions have decided to address issues of significance to the ASEAN region, to think of the ways to move forward and to build back better in the post-pandemic recovery.
