IDENTIFYING THE BEST DECENTRALIZED RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEM FOR RURAL ELECTRIFICATION IN NEPAL

3 Feb 2020

Among the various renewable energy systems promoted, the policy-makers and decision-makers needs to be well aware of the technology, which is the best alternative to achieve a sustainable energy system for the country and the society. [...] In the decomposition principle, structuring of the hierarchy is performed in which the problem to be solved is kept on the top followed by criteria in the second level, sub-criteria is placed in the third level and alternative solutions are kept at the bases. [...] The principle of comparative judgments stand for setting up a matrix to carry out pairwise comparisons of the relative importance of the elements in the second level with respect to the overall objective of the first level. [...] The sum of the global weights of the alternatives in relation to each criterion is the mechanism to obtain the ranking the DRE alternative from a sustainability perspective and thereby identifying the best DRE System for rural electrification. [...] The result of the research will help the policy-makers and decision-makers in shaping the energy policies, plans and programs and foster sustainable energy development in the country.
