The second group of context indicators describes the development of the social and economic background of students, which is also a feature of the education system. [...] The indicators of the third group describe the learning environment from several perspectives; they present the network of institutions, the equality of the public education system, and examine the quality of education. [...] The publication contains a short description of each indicator and a short descriptive analysis of how the values of the indicators have changed recently and presents the results in figures. [...] These reforms to the educational and vocational educational changed – among other things – the length of the compulsory total period of study, the content of the curriculum and, important with reference to the time series of the indicators, the names of the upper secondary programmes too, and more than once. [...] As in the case of the previous editions, the volume is supplemented by a methodological publication, ‘The Technical Guide to the Public Education Indicator System 2021’, which provides a detailed description of the calculation method of each indicator and the exact source of data used for each indicator.
